Stockholm Transport drives network performance with Cisco Info Centre Solutions

Cisco Info Centre Solutions ensure availability of bus and rail transportation network infrastructure for Sweden`s capital city

Micromuse, a provider of ultra-scalable, real-time business and service assurance software, has announced that AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) or Stockholm Transport, has deployed Cisco Info Centre as the primary network and systems management solution for its transportation, signalling and communications infrastructure.

SL is the government organisation responsible for managing the public transportation infrastructure for Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden.

With the use of Cisco Info Centre, which includes both Micromuse and Cisco Systems technology elements, SL can collect data from various different systems and devices across its network into a single, central repository. From there the data is consolidated, analysed and displayed in Web-enabled dashboards, enabling SL systems maintenance staff to quickly pinpoint potential faults on the infrastructure before they disrupt transportation services.

SL deployed Cisco Info Centre solutions to specifically address the needs of government bodies by allowing the cost-efficient, proactive management of complex, heterogeneous networks. The Cisco Info Centre solutions provide an end-to-end management and monitoring backbone that integrates quickly with disparate management systems and devices in the infrastructure to deliver a single effective management interface to systems maintenance staff.

Additionally, the solution allows SL to quickly and easily integrate and manage new platforms as customer requirements and public initiatives necessitate.

Cygate Maldata AB, a Micromuse Channel resale partner, delivered the design and implementation of SL`s network and systems management infrastructure. Micromuse, Cisco and Cygate collaborated closely to ensure the fast implementation of the Cisco Info Centre solutions and to deliver a management solution that provides SL with lower total cost of ownership and faster return on investment.

"SL required a strategic backbone to consolidate complex, multi-vendor networks for service visibility and a more reliable customer service," says Richard Lowe, Micromuse`s Senior Vice-President, Sales, Technical and Business Operations, EMEA.

"The Netcool and Cisco Info Centre technology provides an efficient solution for innovative government bodies that are looking for technology with a proven ability to scale across large networks to support the end customer experience."
