Red Hat acquires Amentra

Red Hat has acquired Amentra, a systems integrator specialising in service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM) projects, as well as a provider of enterprise data solutions, says Redmond Mag.

Red Hat emphasised Amentra's experience with JBoss middleware plus its overall fit with Red Hat's "Enterprise Acceleration" initiative.

The initiative is aimed at helping Red Hat's enterprise customers integrate BPM and SOA into their environments, and move more solutions to its open source JBoss Enterprise Middleware platform.

BEA Systems, an enterprise infrastructure software company, has been selected by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to join the solution delivery team for the Defense Information Systems Agency's Service-Oriented Architecture Foundation (SOAF) programme, says Earth Times.

CSC, in partnership with BEA, Raytheon, and Sun Microsystems, was awarded the SOAF contract under the US Army's ITES-2S contract to support the Net-Centric Enterprise Services programme.

CSC estimates the value of the task order, which has two base years and five one-year options, to be in excess of $89 million if all options are exercised.
