M-KOPA Solar was in need of a system that could provide for integration, flexibility and detailed reporting. Sage 300 ERP Standard Edition (formerly Sage 300 ERP Accpac) presented itself as the perfect solution to address the company's business needs, and implementation started in February 2013. Although full system implementation is yet to be achieved, the software is already showing benefits.

M-KOPA Solar provides affordable solar-powered lighting and mobile charging to rural Kenyans on a pay-as-you-go basis. The founders of the company are experienced mobile technology innovators who believe in the huge potential of transformative, affordable products designed for underserved consumers. "While excellent technology is a prerequisite, technology alone does not solve all customer needs. Success comes when smart technology is combined with a commitment to ongoing, on-the-ground delivery," says Samuel Juma, financial controller at M-KOPA Solar.

M-KOPA Solar faced certain challenges within their business environment which motivated their decision to buy Sage 300 ERP. They required a reliable, stable and flexible enterprise resource planning system to ensure flexibility in reporting and financial analysis, exploring all dimensions of the business' performance. The company also required a system which could cater for the integration with all the software systems in the business, ensure the security of information, have the ability to hold large volumes of data and which can support the ever growing needs of M-KOPA Solar.

M-KOPA placed its trust in Accfin East Africa as a vendor. "Accfin provided excellent support and training throughout the implementation process," says Samuel Juma, financial controller at M-KOPA Solar.

Accfin was established in 2006 to focus on world-class total solutions to business entities in Eastern and Central Africa. "We provide quality services to customers by treating them as partners, ensuring we understand their needs at all times," says Raymond Cheruiyot, senior consultant at Accfin East Africa.

"The Sage 300 ERP solution was implemented by a team of professionals and will definitely support us as a company in dealing with the demands of a growing customer base," says Samuel Juma, financial controller at M-KOPA Solar.

"Traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solutions provide an automation platform that connects the functional areas of your business - accounting, distribution or warehouse and manufacturing. Modern ERP software solutions have evolved to include sales, marketing, customer service and business analytics - through business intelligence and real-time key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards. Sage 300 ERP solutions (formerly Sage ERP Accpac) also deliver the best of both worlds - providing you the freedom to choose between on-premises and online deployment options. Sage 300 ERP will help you interconnect processes from each functional area of your business securely and in real-time, bringing front-office and back-office operations into alignment," says Jeremy Waterman, Managing Director for Sage ERP Africa and Sage Middle East.
