Recent research commissioned by HP has revealed that, by 2016, three quarters of enterprises will deliver IT across private, managed and public clouds.

The IT giant this week unveiled innovations to its OpenStack-based architecture for its private, managed and public cloud offerings.

Alongside this announcement, the company introduced software and services to accelerate time-to-market for private cloud implementations, and debuted new capabilities for its managed and public cloud solutions.

"In order for enterprises to deliver the new style of IT, they need control over their data, as well as flexibility in service levels and delivery models for their workloads," said Bill Veghte, COO at HP.

HP Cloud OS, the common architecture for its converged cloud, is described by Veghte as being an 'open and extensible cloud technology platform that leverages the power of OpenStack technology'. He said this will allow workload portability, simplified installation and better life cycle management across hybrid clouds.

The company's private cloud offering, HP CloudSystem, already features embedded HP Cloud OS technology. According to Veghte, this gives customers a wider choice of deployment options.

For customers first deploying a private cloud, the company has introduced HP CloudSystem Enterprise Starter Suite, which is quick and cost-effective, and can reduce costs by up to 20%.
