A Short History

Tank Industries was founded in 1986 as a development company for the Telecommunication Industry. Engineers at Tank Industries developed a unique Re-enterable Splice Closure for sealing of Telecommunication Cables. Many variations of the original Closure have since been developed and the company now offers a full range of Closures for Copper and Optical Fibre Cables. In the year 2000 the company expanded its product and markets to include the rapidly growing power and electronics industries both locally and abroad. For over 25 years, Tank Industries have manufactured and distributed a wide range of quality connectivity solutions to the power, telecommunications and electronics markets.

In 2012 Tank Industries (Pty) Ltd was officially acquired by the Reunert Group. Tank Industries operates within the subsidiary CBi electric: african cables. CBi-electric: african cables and Tank Industries are two highly respected local manufacturers of cable and cable accessories supplying into the South African, African and International markets. CBi-electric: african cables and Tank Industries together are now able to provide a complete product offering when it comes to any cable installation whether it is electrical power, telecommunications or fibre optics. Tank Industries A Division of ATC (PTY) Ltd is distinctly positioned and marketed to service national and international users with enhanced connectivity capabilities, services and products across all our divisions.

Our Telecommunication Division developed the world's first inline reenterable splice closure, for the use on pressurized cables. The modern day closure has been augmented with many improvements from its original design to service all possible telecommunication applications, providing connectivity for fibre and copper networks throughout Europe and Africa. Tanks Industries manufacture and distribute a large range of accessories and products ranging from distribution frames, outdoor closures, subscriber demarcation units, copper, fibre optic and hybrid products.

Our Power Division is one of the premier manufacturers and suppliers of Low and Medium Voltage cable accessories. We provide comprehensive technical support and advice, based on years of cable industry experience to all users of our products. We manufacture components locally in our ISO 9001 Accredited manufacturing facility thereby providing flexibility in meeting Customers’ needs. Supplemented by a range of high quality European sourced components, Tank Industries - A Division of ATC (PTY) Ltd., supplies integrated cable accessory solutions to the Utility, Supply Authority and general Industrial, Commercial and Residential reticulation markets.

Our Industrial Division consists of a range of high quality electrical products used for connecting, maintaining, terminating, protecting and sealing cables, transformers and enclosures. Markets for our products include: industry, mining, utilities, renewables and the transport sector. (Rail, Harbours) Our kitting division offers services which assemble and prepack to customer requirements and specifications.

Our Training Facility is an accredited EWSETA and MICT Skills Development Centre specialising in Low/Medium Voltage and Fibre Optic jointing and termination methods. Our main objective is to increase the level of knowledge and skills abilities of our own personnel as well as instructing its customers in the proper use of its products. To this end, TANK intends to promote general principles and use international and nationally recognised experts in their fields to transfer their knowledge to attendees. Theoretical and Practical Training Course’s in: The Jointing & Termination of Medium/High Voltage Cables comply to the requirements of SANS 10198 (part 10 &11) as per SAQA US ID 259187 Training is done under the auspicious and Accreditation of EWSETA and NQF level 1 to 4. Procedures have been established for the training needs of the technical personnel to meet the standards of SANS 10198 (Part 10 & 11) & NRS 053:2008.
