Werner Bornman embarked on his career with the backing provided by a Master Degree in Information Security Risk Analysis with a keen interest in the way that Business and the Information and Communication Technology achieve its strategic objectives. Ten years later he has diversified into Information Security, Risk Management, Governance, Compliance, System Implementation, and Project Management. The amalgamation of experience and personal interest has culminated into the need for deeper understanding of Business and ICT Alignment through structured research as part of a recently undertaken PhD in Computer Science.

Werner began his career at KPMG South Africa IT Advisory division. After gaining extensive experiences in various countries such as Swaziland, Ghana, Cote d’Ivor and Sudan; and numerous industries including Public Sector, Telecommunication, Mining, Transport, Postal- and Financial Services; he focused his consulting career on the Governance and Performance principle.

Werner joined STANLIB Wealth and Asset Management as the ICT Risk Manager and currently holds the position, Head IT for the STANLIB Group. Werner is CGEIT, CISA, CRISC, CISM and ITIL Certified.
