Richard Trickey has been in the IT industry since 1993, entering the industry after graduating with a Bachelor of Social Sciences, majoring in political geography, from the University of Natal Durban, in 1992. An opportunity at MTN in 1995 was the introduction into the fledgling world of mobile technology, and has since then been a major driver in Trickey’s IT career. Trickey spent over 15 years consulting at MTN, fulfilling a number of different roles and responsibilities over that time period, with the last couple of years focused on the strategic and tactical aspects of the broader MTN Group initiatives around enterprise shared services. He is one of the co-founders of SYSDBA and currently fulfils the role of CTO and company director. He is married with three children and generally enjoys the outdoor lifestyle when he has a chance to get out of town.
