Francois Marais started his career in the IT industry in 1987, as a software developer, in London, England, and has worked in the business intelligence field since 1994, when he participated in one of the initial retail data warehousing implementations in South Africa. He has consulted in various capacities, mainly as a BI architect at major corporates in the retail, telco, banking and healthcare sectors since 1996, and has spent the last seven years at Busii. Marais has led the introduction of open source software for BI at several clients. He has a BA (Hons) degree in economic history from the University of Cape Town.
