As the world become increasingly digital, Dell EMC is hosting a forum to help companies and IT professionals discover strategies, insights and explore solutions that drive IT innovation, enhance mobility and reduce risk.
The free event will be held on 27 March at the Sandton International Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
Technology innovation is advancing at an exponential rate, powering a new era of digital transformation, says Dell EMC. The way we live and work is becoming more immersive, more collaborative, more mobile and more competitive than ever before, the company adds.
As these demands drive work, IT becomes the business, but real digital transformation takes real work, it notes.
Technology has always been a part of the conversation, but in the past few decades it's accelerated our world in unbelievable ways, says Doug Woolley, general manager for Dell EMC SA.
This has added to that uncertainty, but also to the potential and progress, creating a delicate balancing act for IT leaders inside their organisations, he adds.
According to Ben McDonald, marketing manager at Dell EMC SA, the event is aimed at IT decision-makers, and anyone interested in the latest technology trends that will affect their business and who wish to find practical solutions to the challenges they face.
There are four key themes of the event: digital, IT, workforce, and security transformation, he says.
The keynote speakers will be Woolley, and Nigel Moulton, CTO, converged platforms and solutions division for Dell EMC EMEA.
Woolley will focus on how digital transformation is affecting companies in SA and how they can address those challenges.
Fuelled by third platform technologies like mobile, social business, cloud, and big data and analytics, the IDC says a new era is upon us where technologies and processes that businesses deploy are so tightly linked to their customers and markets that the boundary between the internal operations of the enterprise and its external ecosystem is rapidly disappearing.
Business leaders are challenged to employ digital technologies such as the Internet of things, robotics, and artificial intelligence to create new ways of operating and growing businesses, it continues.
Moulton will be talking about technology innovation, and how it's advancing at a rapid pace, powered by digital transformation. He will also show that the organisations which use technology to fundamentally rethink their business models and disrupt entire industries are the ones that are protecting their futures, says McDonald.
Organisations understand that transformation needs to happen at four levels: digital, IT, workforce, and security, but now they are looking for practical steps to make those transformations, he adds. The challenge then for companies becomes how to digitally transform, says McDonald.
