Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook delivers on style, value, performance for consumers, small businesses

New industrial design, enhanced capabilities ideal for mobile entertainment, productivity

Johannesburg, 28 Feb 2007

Dell recently enhanced its mobile offering to consumers and small businesses in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with the launch of the Inspiron 1501 - a sleek and affordable, high performance notebook computer ideal for everyday entertainment and productivity uses.

The Inspiron 1501, the first Dell notebook with AMD processor options, offers customers high-end features and performance including a 15.4-inch widescreen display, integrated wireless networking and optional AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processors.

"The technology upgrades and options designed into the Inspiron 1501 illustrate Dell's commitment to listening to its customers and developing the mobile products they need - focusing on improving both entertainment and productivity capabilities, while maintaining value," said Herv'e Mattan, Marketing Director, home and small business, Dell EMEA.

Combining style and function with its stylish silver and white exterior, the Inspiron 1501 can be built with a range of AMD processors including AMD Sempron, AMD Turion 64 and AMD Turion 64 X2 series, up to 2Gb of shared DDR2 memory and up to 80Gb hard drive.

A new ATI graphics card also enables better entertainment and casual gaming experiences. The Inspiron 1501 is Microsoft Windows Vista premium-capable and comes with optional warranty term extensions.

Inspiron 1501 firsts

In addition to marking Dell's first use of AMD processors in a mobile computer, the Inspiron 1501 is the first entry-level notebook with a standard 3-in-1 media card reader to easily transfer digital files from cameras and MP3 players.

The 15.4-inch widescreen display with True Life technology is also the first on an entry notebook. The wide-aspect screen provides up to 30% more viewable area, which helps movies come to life and allows more windows to open side by side.

Customers can also take advantage of Dell's exclusive DellConnect service, which enables technicians to remotely resolve many common problems through a broadband connection.

The Inspiron 1501 with AMD Sempron is priced from R5 490 excluding VAT and delivery and R6 249 including VAT and delivery; and the Inspiron 1501 with AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processors is priced from R5 990 excluding VAT and delivery, and R6 840 including VAT and delivery.
