Telkom`s R7 Weekend promotion comes to an end.

This weekend is your last opportunity to take advantage of Telkom`s popular R7 Weekend promotion.

The promotion was originally launched on January 8 and ran until March 29.

The original plan was to run the special offer for three months. However, due to customer demand, Telkom extended its R7 Weekend capped rate promotion for a further three months at the beginning of April.

Its renewed special promotion ran from Good Friday, April 2 until Monday, June 28 between 7pm on Fridays and 7am on Mondays.

The R7 Weekend promotion applied to calls made within South Africa from a Telkom fixed line telephone. (Calls from Payphones, PrepaidFone services, manual exchanges and calls to cellular phones were excluded.)

The major benefits of the service were limitless talk time over weekends, reasonable prices, as well as peace of mind about the total cost of a call.

Customers were able to make calls to anywhere in South Africa for as long as they wanted over weekends without being charged more than R7 (VAT incl.) per call. Calls were metered using the normal Telkom Callmore tariffs up to a maximum of R7. Any time customers spent on the line after that was free. For calls to qualify, they had to start and end within the capped period from 7pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday.

While Telkom is discontinuing the R7 Weekend special for the time being, other special promotions are being planned for introduction later in the year.

The digital maturation of Telkom`s national telecommunications network, whereby customers are increasingly being serviced by software-driven exchanges known as "intelligent platforms", has reached a level of capacity that will soon enable Telkom to offer its customers more competitive billing packages.
