Unlike past events, the next instalment of the Public Sector ICT Forum (PSICT Forum) will take place virtually as a webinar, on 4 June.

The PSICT Forum, organised by ITWeb Brainstorm in association with MTN Business, is a platform for public sector ICT decision-makers to engage and discuss topics that are key to innovation in service delivery.

While tech events continue to be cancelled as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaks havoc across the globe, the forum decided to take the online route to host its event.

It will be held under the theme: “Building a public sector workforce of the future”.

This will be an opportunity to delve into the importance of digitally upskilling the public sector’s workforce in the advent of COVID-19, 5G and the fourth industrial revolution, says the forum.

“In response to president Cyril Ramaphosa's address to the nation regarding lockdown restrictions due to the COVID-19 virus, we have taken the decision to continue with the Public Sector ICT Forum events virtually, as webinars.

“As the Public Sector ICT Forum, we remain positive that the COVID-19 pandemic will end soon. We have seen the impact that remote working has had across industries and the importance of a digitally-savvy workforce in these trying times. For this reason, we think the topic of building a public sector workforce of the future is a pivotal subject that cannot be ignored.

“We have made it easy for you to join this event online and hear the latest content from an unparalleled speaker line-up.”

The free event will feature a keynote address from Eldrid Jordaan, founder and CEO of citizen engagement platform GovChat.

Other people on the speaker line-up include Vuma Magaqa, director of e-health at the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal; Nomazwi Mhloma, deputy head of IT services at eThekwini Municipality; Henry Denner, information security officer, Gautrain Management Agency; and Magatho Mello, GM of public sales, MTN SA.
