Mike Sharman, co-founder of digital communications agency Retroviral and co-founder of Webfluential, will speak at ITWeb's Digital Economy Summit next week, about the digital revolution and its impact on how we create, share and consume content.
ITWeb's Digital Economy Summit, on 21 April, at The Forum in Bryanston, is South Africa's first event to explore the opportunities in the digital world as it is rapidly becoming 'the world'.
Noting that "online influencers are the billboards of 2015", Sharman examines disruption versus interruption and why, in the digital economy, brands need to move away from awareness and closer to sales.
Lee Naik, MD of digital and technology strategy at Accenture, will outline five technology trends affecting tomorrow's digital businesses. He says business is experiencing a dramatic shift from a "me" to "we" economy in which business operates within broader ecosystems.
Lenore Kerrigan, country sales director of OpenText, will share examples of companies that have successfully embraced digitisation, and examine if transformation in the digital age can be achieved without massive investment.
Johan Nel, CEO of online classified service Gumtree, described as the largest locally-owned Web site in the country, will discuss how the rise of the 'prosumer' is impacting the online and offline worlds.
Other inspirational thinkers will sketch the digital scenario of the future and provide practical, hard-hitting advice on how technology organisations must evolve to support the business.
