Internet service provider M-Web has appointed a new CEO, Kim Reid, to replace Andrew Milne, who left to pursue other interests after 17 years at the Naspers group.
M-Web spokesman Marguerite Joubert says after so long in the industry, Milne wanted a change and decided to become involved in other ventures. Milne was appointed a year ago to replace Antonie Roux, who now heads the group`s Internet initiatives.
Reid, formerly chief financial officer of pay TV business MultiChoice since 2000, will report to Roux.
"M-Web and MultiChoice have great similarities, as both are subscriber-driven and content-rich businesses," Roux says. "Coming from the latter, Reid brings with him a host of experience. He has also worked in the global market, where profitability, efficiency, budget control, rich content as well as marketing is essential."
Reid says that in the next phase of M-Web`s lifecycle, the focus will remain on developing and delivering premium tools and services to members, with the main aim to add value to their connectivity.
"We`ll continue to focus on the home and leisure consumer, and significantly increase our focus on the business sector (M-Web Business)."
Prior to joining MultiChoice, Reid was financial director at Sony Music Entertainment. He has also worked as financial manager at the Gary Player Group and Extram Hong Kong.
