Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security wins 2004 World Class Award from PC World

Johannesburg, 18 Jun 2004
SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the southern African distributor for Trend security software, today announced that the latter's PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 was honoured by PC World with a 2004 World Class Award for the best anti-virus software solution. The World Class Award winners are announced in the July 2004 issue of PC World.

In previously giving the coveted 'Best Buy' rating in the June 2004 issue, PC World's reviewer wrote: "Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 was the best of the suites, with the top anti-virus scanner and one of the best firewalls." Moreover, the product was cited as the only software product in the review to provide no-cost and toll-free telephone technical support.

Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 provides a comprehensive, simplified solution against Internet-based threats, helping users get the most out of their computer systems with minimal concern about controlling security threats.

Beginning with an enhanced network virus protection, users benefit from the same level of protection as big corporations from today's network-based viruses such as the recent Sasser worm. With the Network Virus Emergency Centre console, early warnings of new threats are sent to users, and virus pattern files can be automatically updated for the latest protection. Automated cleaning and restoration tools are triggered in the event viruses are caught to keep systems functioning properly.

In addition to its firewall, Trend Micro Internet Security includes advanced privacy and spyware protection to protect passwords, bank account numbers, and other personal information. Spam and URL filtering features help block unsolicited junk e-mail, and help control access to inappropriate Web sites.

"PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 allows home users and small/home office users to completely secure themselves with the tight integration between anti-virus, firewall, anti-Spam and spyware detection features," commented Dan Glessner, senior director of North American marketing for Trend Micro, Incorporated. "PC World rigorously tested PC-cillin Internet Security and recognised Trend Micro's success in providing these users the ability to detect and block a range of threats, using what PC World's reviewer called 'an exceptionally clean and intuitive interface'."

Celebrating its 22nd year, the respected World Class Awards honour the best in computers, hardware, software and the Internet. To select the best of the best, PC World's editors examined the entire spectrum of products that have appeared in or were submitted to the magazine over the past 12 months. Hundreds of products in 67 categories were judged on usability, design, innovation, features, performance and value.

"The ultimate buyers guide, World Class Awards set the standard for excellence in the hi-tech industry," stated Harry McCracken, editor in chief of PC World. "From performance PCs to spam filters to GPS navigation devices and video instant messaging services, the editors reward the finest products and most outstanding performers in this annual award programme. Congratulations to Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security 2004."
