mapIT, your digital mapping partner, together with Tracker, is pleased to present the Interactive Route Map for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour taking place in Cape Town on 10 March 2013. Tracker will provide live tracking of the leading men's and women's cyclists, celebrities, politicians and charities which will be displayed on the map.
The Interactive Route Map contains vital information such as refreshment and medical points along the route, accurate street level zooming, an automated routing function to plan and navigate, the race route profile, a function that locates the user's position on the map and a twitter handle, @CycleTourTrust, for spectators to join in on the Twitter banter using the hashtag #CycleTourTrust. Consumers will also be able to track the progress of Sir Richard Branson, Helen Zille and a group of special riders who will be towed by their fit family and friends, raising awareness for children living with disabilities.
"The race's history dates back to 1977 and has gained massive momentum to date, pulling a large crowd of both local and international entrants and spectators; we are thrilled to be involved with such a well-loved and high-profile annual sporting event. Reliable navigation is therefore imperative to a successful experience by everyone and our team has designed the online route map with live data from Tracker, using our LBS platform by deCarta, using a wide range of specialised, interactive features," said mapIT's Managing Director, Etienne Louw.
