ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the mobile Internet, today launched its first cyber security laboratory (lab) in Nanjing, China. This verifies ZTE's commitment to the ICT industry against cyber security threats.
ZTE is devoted to deploying multiple cyber security labs across the globe. In the wake of the establishment of the Nanjing cyber security lab, the company also plans to launch cyber security labs in Italy and Belgium, respectively, in the near future.
In keeping with its vision of "security in DNA; trust through transparency", ZTE is committed to providing customers with end-to-end security products and services, and integrating security considerations and controls with every aspect of a product's life cycle. The establishment of a cyber security lab at this time is a milestone for ZTE as it presents the company with an opportunity to increase transparency and enhance trust with all third parties.
The cyber security lab aims to provide global customers, regulators and other stakeholders with security assessment and audit services, such as source code review on ZTE products, including 4G and 5G; security design audit; procedural document review; black box testing and penetration testing.
Furthermore, the cyber security lab, functioning as an industry co-operation and research platform, will also facilitate in-depth research and exploration in the security field.
"The security lab is an open and co-operative platform for the industry," said Zhong Hong, ZTE's chief security officer, speaking at the launch of the Nanjing lab. "ZTE plans to gradually achieve its cyber security goals via three steps: first, meeting the requirements of cyber security laws, regulations and industry standards as well as certification schemes; second, conducting an open dialogue to enhance transparency and establishing co-operation with customers as well as regulatory agencies; and third, sustaining the open co-operation mechanism to contribute to cyber security standardisation."
ZTE is committed to the security demands of customers and regulators, leveraging the platform of the cyber security lab for further transparency, co-operation and communication. Looking ahead, the company will collaborate with world-class security organisations to jointly conduct security assessment, certification, training and consulting.
In confronting the challenges of cyber security in the 5G era, ZTE will continue to adhere to the company's vision of "enabling connectivity and trust everywhere" and introduce trustworthy cyber security capabilities worldwide.
