Yahoo names CEO

Yahoo has hired veteran technology executive Carol Bartz as its new CEO, reports CNN Money.

Bartz ran software company Autodesk for 14 years, most recently serving as executive chairwoman. California-based Autodesk, with just over 7 000 employees worldwide, is about half the size of Yahoo.

Separately, Yahoo said president Sue Decker will resign after a transitional period.

Dell channel chief gets promoted

Dell has disclosed that channel chief Greg Davis has been promoted to a new global role, according to Channel Web.

The Texas-based hardware vendor has named Davis as its VP and GM of global channels. The move comes as part of a major reorganisation unveiled recently.

Davis, who has led Dell's fledging North American channel strategy as VP and GM of Americas Channel Group since August 2007, will now oversee the vendor's indirect sales efforts worldwide.

IBM appoints storage GM

IBM has appointed a new head of its storage business, says Channel Web.

Curtis Tearte, a 30-year IBM veteran, was announced internally at IBM as the company's new GM of storage in the IBM Systems and Technology Group.

Tearte is replacing Andy Monshaw, who was named GM of sales and operations for IBM Japan.
