Sonny Fisher has resigned his position as CEO and director of JSE-listed Y3K, embarking on a new career as a software dealer.
He says the move was sparked by a need to maintain an entrepreneurial career path.
Financial director Ryan Price will take over as CEO. Price is the son of Y3K non-executive director and MGX non-executive chairman, Ronnie Price.
Fisher`s new company, Iris Software, will deal in Y3K`s point-of-sale retail software, Micro Angelo, as well as its range of anti-virus software, including F-Secure.
Micro Angelo has been implemented in Juicy Lucy, the Kruger Park and the Automobile Association.
Y3K had attempted to sell Micro Angelo, but the deal fell through and the point-of-sale company rejoined the Y3K group this year.
Fisher says Y3K is now trading profitably and has a number of large clients including Absa and parastatal Transnet.
The group posted a net loss of R2.2 million for the year to February 2002, but said at the time of the results announcement in June that it had been trading profitably since April.
