'Word Merge on Steroids' for SharePoint users

Relate Technologies, local SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics CRM development company, will be showcasing a range of server-based Word merge, or document automation, solutions at Share 2013 in Johannesburg, from 11 to 13 March 2013.

"Document automation has been a standard method of generating customised client documents for years within the legal, financial services and insurance industries," says Geoff Lander, CEO, Relate Technologies.
"Document automation has been a standard method of generating customised client documents for years within the legal, financial services and insurance industries," says Geoff Lander, CEO, Relate Technologies.

Relate Technologies, a local Microsoft Dynamics CRM and SharePoint application development company, will be meeting with attendees of the Business Users' SharePoint Conference, Share 2013, taking place in Johannesburg from 11 to 13 March to demonstrate its SharePoint solutions for document automation.

Being positioned as "a Word merge on Steroids", Relate Technologies' document automation solutions for SharePoint extend the capabilities of standard Word merge exponentially by merging approved content stored in enterprise systems, such as SharePoint lists, CRM, ERP and SQL databases, and merging it into Word and PowerPoint templates to generate customised versions of complex client documents and presentations. Content can be imported in the form of tables, graphs, normal copy, images and charts with no impact on document formatting or branding.

"Document automation has been a standard method of generating customised client documents such as contracts, policy documents, welcome packs and financial reports for years within the legal, financial services and insurance industries," says Geoff Lander, CEO of Relate Technologies. "However, the dramatic reduction in time required to generate client documents, as well as the reduction in human error and improved document quality that document automation delivers, are major benefits that have driven an increase in adoption of this technology within new industries, such as IT, construction, engineering, professional services and telecommunications."

The company will be showcasing three document automation solutions in particular at this week's show: a Section 14 Pension Fund Contract Management and Automation solution, an Investment Fact Sheet and Investment Report Automation solution, and a Sales Opportunity Document Automation solution.

"The solutions we have chosen to demo at the show are primarily aimed at the financial services and insurance sectors, as well as sales organisations," continues Lander. "However, the combination of our SharePoint and .NET development skills, along with our chosen document automation technology, Qorus DocGeneration, enables us to build document automation solutions for any industry."

As resellers and implementation partners of Qorus Software, the SharePoint document automation software company, Relate Technologies builds its document automation solutions on the backbone of the company's flagship document automation plug-in platform for SharePoint, Qorus DocGeneration.

"Our use of Relate Technologies' document automation solution for the generation of our investment fund policy contracts has resulted in a turnaround time of about five minutes per contract in comparison to the previous two hours needed to construct standard documents," adds Lionel Vice, Chief Operational Officer, Sanlam Structured Solutions.

The company has developed document automation solutions for companies locally and overseas, including Vodafone Global Enterprise, MWeb, JO Hambro Capital Management, Exeter Friendly Society and The Foschini Group.

"The is our first time exhibiting at the Business Users' SharePoint Conference, and we anticipate great interest from attendees of the show wanting to learn how document automation can be used to increase their ROI in SharePoint. The ROI will become obvious to attendees when we demonstrate how document automation improves the effectiveness of their client-facing documents, while dramatically cutting the time and effort required to generate them," concludes Lander.
