Without a hitch

As a business that supplies South Africa's parastatals and some of the biggest companies in the country, it is vital that Lectro-Tech's systems are capable of keeping track of stock, ensuring manufacturing is glitch-free and invoicing is done correctly, and on time. This is achieved through the use of Softline Accpac's software.

The company offers a full and complete range of earthing-grounding and exothermic products to its clients, which include Eskom, Telkom, earthing and lightning installers, industry, and electrical suppliers, among others. Since 1985, Lectro-Tech has used Accpac to ensure that the manufacture of its products, as well as invoicing, goes off without a hitch.

Lectro-Tech's Doug Kay explains that while it was initially aimed at addressing challenges around stock in the manufacturing factory, the Accpac system was so easy to use it was extended to other areas of the business.

“The Accpac system is easy to use, provides good reports and Accpac offers us excellent support,” he says. “Apart from adding advanced functionality, Accpac has kept pace with technology from DOS to Windows and now version 6.0 - a thin client version. We have been using the Windows system since 2008 - the DOS version had done its part and needed to be retired after 13 years.”

He adds that every computer program is prone to problems, but Lectro-Tech has never had any issues with Accpac because of the fantastic level of support it has received over the years. “For example, I had a problem a few years back and didn't realise that our consultant was away on holiday. I called on her cellphone, and she not only took my call, she talked me through the problem there and then - from a restaurant in Sydney, Australia! That's what expert knowledge and excellent service is all about,” he concludes.
