WestJet extends self-service baggage tagging

WestJet is expanding its self-service options by offering self-serve baggage tagging to other airports across Canada, states Digital Journal.

The move follows positive feedback from guests in Vancouver, Montr'eal and Edmonton, where the feature was introduced earlier this year.

Self-serve baggage tagging allows WestJet guests to use mobile, Web or kiosk channels to check in for their flight and print their own baggage tags when they arrive at the airport

iPad app aids easy travel

Malaysia Airlines and air transport IT specialist SITA have released self-service kiosks to sell airline tickets using the Apple iPad, says 4Hoteliers.

The iPads come pre-installed with the MHmobile app, which customers can use to book and pay for tickets, as well as to check in, in three simple steps - select the flights, make a payment with a credit card, and receive confirmation via SMS and e-mail.

Customers can also use the MHkiosk to look up flight schedules, check on their flight status, choose their seats and search for deals and offers.

Healthcare self-screening in shops

SoloHealth plans to put kiosks in retail stores that allow people to perform basic personal health screenings, says eWeek.

The new healthcare IT unit is a follow-up to the EyeSite vision-screening kiosk, which can be found in stores such as Kroger and Schnucks.

SoloHealth plans to place self-service health kiosks in major retail stores to allow people to test themselves for conditions such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension, and to check their vision and hearing. Patients will then receive recommendations for follow-up care.
