Airwide Solutions, the leading provider of next-generation mobile messaging infrastructure and applications, today announced a deal with Vodafone Ireland to install Airwide's next-generation AirMessenger Routers across its entire network.
In addition, Airwide Solutions is upgrading Vodafone Ireland's SMSC (short message service centre) platform, enabling message storage optimisation, delivering operational and capital expenditure savings, and protecting the investments Vodafone has already made.
AirMessenger Routers will enable up to 80% of Vodafone Ireland's messaging traffic to be delivered instantly, without being stored, reducing the end-to-end cost per message and increasing the speed of message delivery. Airwide's AirMessenger Router v7.1 optimises messaging infrastructure by incorporating intelligent load and rule-based traffic management, so that messages can be dynamically routed across SMSCs in the most efficient manner. The implementation of the router on SIGTRAN allows substantial savings from the CAPEX perspective.
Additionally, the AirMessenger Router v7.1 will offer Vodafone Ireland more effective relationship management with value-added partners such as MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators), aggregators and content providers, with features such as virtual mobile, congestion management and traffic analysis.
The Linux-based AirMessenger Router also provides a highly flexible incremental approach for operators looking to gain enhanced security capabilities including content controls, anti-spam, anti-spoof and blacklisting.
Airwide's next-generation Fusion architecture enables a separation of delivery, storage and policy management network elements, providing mobile operators with a high degree of flexibility and control of independently scalable network components.
Declan Brennan, head of product and services development at Vodafone Ireland, commented: "To increase our messaging capacity while lowering delivery cost-per-message is critical to our business. By using Airwide Solutions' next-generation routers and applications, we get a stable, scalable and flexible messaging infrastructure that enables us to cope with an increase in traffic from our customers."
"Airwide's product portfolio and tiered architecture is designed to deliver higher capacity and control, while protecting our customers' investments in their existing infrastructure," said Patrick Lopez, vice-president of product management at Airwide Solutions. "We are excited to help Vodafone Ireland achieve more control over their messaging network while reducing costs and increasing their revenues."
