A new mobile data terminal system is enabling Western Cape's paramedics to save more lives.

By using a new mobile data terminal system (MDT), Western Cape's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is able to improve the accuracy of data sent to ambulances and response teams, and reduce the time taken to respond to incidents.

The MDT system picks up the emergency caller's cellphone number and the GPS coordinates immediately pop up on the small screen of the ambulance.

The system navigates the paramedics to the exact spot where the patient is, and enables them to send real-time information to the hospital so that they can advance the treatment and prepare themselves for the incoming patient/s.

Watch as Western Cape EMS Paramedic Philip Siljeur explains the advanced capabilities of the MDT system, provided by Dimension Data.
