Africa's biggest exhibition of defence and security equipment, held between 19 and 21 September at Air Force Base Waterkloof, outside Pretoria, attracted some 40 000 trade visitors, who came to see 350 exhibitors from 28 countries. The final two days of the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2012 exhibition featured air show days, and these attracted another 95 000 people.
This year, AAD returned to its traditional home of Waterkloof after being held in Cape Town in 2010, allowing for much more exhibitor space. This was put to good use, showcasing both local and foreign defence, aerospace and security products and services. After South Africa, the biggest exhibitors were the US, China and Russia - 40% of exhibitors came from overseas.
As an official media partner of AAD, defenceWeb produced the following video on this important biennial event.
