The Chairperson of the Universal Services and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA), Mrs Pumla Radebe, will lead a delegation of the Agency in a visit to assess all projects that have been implemented in the municipality.
The Agency decided to roll out a broadband project at Emalahleni Municipality in the Eastern Cape. Through this project, USAASA upgraded base stations from basic telephony (2G) to LTE to enable easy and faster connectivity.
All clinics falling within the municipality were connected to the network and linked with the local hospital as part of the Agency's contribution to better healthcare system.
The Agency also connected four top-performing schools on the network as part of its school connectivity project. All Grade 12 leaners were given new-generation cellphones to use while at home. In schools, the Agency provided tablets for all educators and others for general use by leaners.
