The ITS Lecturer iEnabler system from Integrated Tertiary Software (ITS) provides online real-time access to the ITS system, enabling academic staff of institutions to gain access through secure logons to data of student groups assigned to them.

The University of Fort Hare (UFH) implemented the ITS Lecturer iEnabler system during October 2007.

Widespread feedback was received from UFH management and a number of lecturers about the ITS Lecturer iEnabler system, highlighting the positive contribution and usefulness of the product to simplify their duties in a number of ways.

Jacques D Mahler-Coetzee, attorney of the High Court of South Africa and lecturer in Law at Nelson Mandela School of Law East London Campus, quoted the following: "In my capacity both as a lecturer and also as a university e-learning task team member, I see incredible potential in many spheres where the ITS Lecturer iEnabler system can enhance my pedagogic work on both qualitative and quantitative levels.

"The obvious advantages of the ITS Lecturer iEnabler system for the day-to-day academic administration of the lecturing function and our classes seem almost trite. The ability to gain immediate and real-time information about each student is a major advantage for a pedagogue such as myself, engaged as I am in a humanising pedagogy, which seeks to discover and nurture the individual student rather than address merely the mass learning body. I can unequivocally support the initiative to deploy the ITS Lecturer iEnabler at our institution. It will most certainly, if the proper precursors are in place, be a quantum leap in efficiency and efficacy, directly contributing to our ongoing path towards building a cutting-edge institution of higher learning."

Lecturing staff can view their personalised lecturing timetable information online. The lecturer can obtain student biographical information and contact details as well as the academic programmes, and course/subject/module information of students assigned to them by viewing the class/attendance list. The calculation criteria of subjects can also be viewed in the system.

"The implementation of the ITS Lecturer iEnabler system will afford the lecturing community an opportunity to gain easy access to student biographical and academic records. Staff will also have access to generate their individual class lists as well generating a host of registration reports, once the activity has been concluded," said Mr Noel Knikelbein, Deputy Registrar, UFH

Thando G Pendu, Manager of ITS Management Planning Unit, UFH, further commented: "The implementation of ITS Lecturer iEnabler was very successful. It is a very useful system, which enables lecturers to capture their students' assignment and examination marks. It will also help them to identify and track students' attendance as well as their academic progress."

Integrated Tertiary Software specialises in the provision of integrated software to support the administrative functions within the higher education and further education and training sectors. The company also offers a wide range of related training, support and consultation services to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to staff members at client institutions.

The ITS Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution can be implemented as a fully integrated solution to support the student, financial, human resources, payroll and library business processes of a university, polytechnic or college. The main systems can, however, also be implemented individually to support a "best-of-breed" approach. Open technology allows for ease of integration with other third-party software solutions.
