ICTS, the support organisation that assists staff and students at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in using information and communication technologies to enhance their work, has chosen CoLAB Project Implementation's Managed Project Office (MPO) solution to support its project management requirements.
MPO is a configured instance of Post Vision Technology's Project Portfolio Office (PPO) application, a software as a service (SaaS) project management solution.
“UCT ITCS required a solution that could provide it with a central project register to create visibility across its various departments, a collaboration and reporting system for its projects, as well as a complete project management office (PMO),” says Barend Cronj'e, CEO of CoLAB Project Implementation, the PPO partner responsible for the deployment at the academic institution.
“The academic institution identified PPO as its preferred PMO solution as it can be scaled to size, contains all the components required for successful project management delivery, can be deployed immediately and delivers tangible results straight away. In addition, the MPO configuration provided the required governance and methodology.”
According to Guy Jelley, CEO of Post Vision Technology, its locally developed PPO application has proven to be as valuable in an academic setting as in the many other industries it is currently used within, such as financial services, media, telecommunications, mining, consulting, government, hospitality, food and beverages, and more. “This illustrates the flexibility and user-friendliness of the PPO offering,” says Jelley.
Management, project managers and project team members at UCT ICTS started using the new project management solution straight away as it includes a practical and simple project management methodology - integrating all the enablers necessary, such as project governance and process, people and structures.
Cronj'e adds: “Given that the deployment of the MPO solution is immediate and the utilisation fast-tracked, it is really exciting to experience a PMO that does not have to go through the usual development growing pains before adding operational value.”
