Twitter debuts analytics tool

Social media site, Twitter has released an analytics tool to help Web site owners understand how much traffic their social media efforts are generating, reports Silicon.

According to Twitter, the tool will allow Web site owners to understand how much of their Web site content is being shared across the Twitter network, how much traffic Twitter is sending back to their sites, and measure the worth of placing the Tweet button on their Web sites.

Cnet reports the new analytics dashboard is focused on Web sites, not just individual stories. It shows which stories are the most shared and the most discussed, and which referring sites are sending the most traffic.

Twitter's director of Web business development, April Underwood, says Twitter's new link wrapper, 't.co', is driving 100 million clicks a day to Web sites, and this product will help publishers understand and take advantage of that traffic.

Twitter will also show users all the Tweets that were sent from the Tweet button on their sites, as well as any Tweet that was sent with an inbound link to their sites, reveals Tech Crunch.

From the analytics platform, one can retweet these tweets, as well as respond to the users.
