Touchline Media improves delivery with ACCPAC

Local ACCPAC solution provider, SLC, has upgraded media organisation, Touchline Media, from its legacy, DOS-based accounting infrastructure to ACCPAC Advantage Series.

According to Lyndon Marescia, director at SLC, the ACCPAC solution is ideal for companies looking to move to a functional Windows-based system.

"The natural selection in cases like these is ACCPAC Advantage Series," he says. "It boasts an easy learning curve, offers multiple ease-of-use features and upgrades of this kind are proven to be fast and comprehensive with no down time."

Touchline also needed an integrated system where all its magazines and service offerings could be consolidated into a single General Ledger. At present Touchline sells a total of 350 000 consumer magazines per month, including Men's Health, Shape, Blunt and Girl, 70 000 of these to loyal subscribers.

"The company needed to keep a close eye on movements within its subscriber database and generate weekly and monthly reports with little or no fuss," Marescia says.

"This is where ACCPAC's Excel-based Financial Report Writer came into play. In addition, the product's ability to integrate with other, external systems was a critical factor influencing the decision-making process at Touchline."

"Before, our reporting options were limited," says Ashleen Bredeveldt, financial manager at Touchline Media. "The ACCPAC solution impressed us with its ease of use, specifically where the reports and functions were easily integrated into the Office range of products. The ability to retain history in detail was also a big win for us."

Marescia says the implementation is a prime example of the growing trend among companies wanting real-time access to real-time information.

"ACCPAC's main pull here is that it has always been able to offer its end-users access to databases full of information at any time and from anywhere.

"Touchline is no longer limited by location and can access ACCPAC Advantage Series anywhere, anytime through the easy-to-use, Web-based interface."

Bredeveldt adds that the product has improved the meeting of deadlines at Touchline and says management reporting has also been facilitated. "Plans for the future include the possible integration of an external billing system, utilising ACCPAC Debtors, for our photo division. This upgrade promises to be just as smooth as the one we've just undergone and should yield as many benefits," she says.
