Toshiba developing 'glasses-free' 3D
Toshiba says it is developing technology for 3D televisions that won't require 3D glasses, states HD Report.
The AP reports on a Yomiurinewspaper article confirm the company's development intentions but declines to comment on whether or not a 3D TV utilising the technology will be released by the end of the year.
The article says the technology transmits different images at different angles to create the third-dimensional image, rather than the dual image shutter-based technology common on retail shelves today.
Lexmark sues for patent infringements
Lexmark has filed a patent infringement complaint with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) against 24 companies engaged in the manufacture, importation and sale of replacement cartridges for various Lexmark laser printers and multifunction devices, writes AgIPNews.
The complaint alleges these replacement cartridges infringe at least 15 US patents owned by Lexmark.
Lexmark is requesting that the ITC issue a general exclusion order banning the importation and sale of patent infringing laser cartridges by any entity.
Doctors overuse image tests
US Doctors are ordering too many unnecessary imaging tests, raising the cost of healthcare and exposing patients to excess amounts of radiation, imaging experts say, reports Fox News.
They say many doctors order tests that will not find the cause of their patients' complaints.
“Some imaging procedures are not justified, because they are unnecessary for the patient's care,” says William Hendee of the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
