South Africa Online launched its third South African Internet User Survey today. The survey, conducted by The House of Synergy (THOS) is the most comprehensive of its kind producing a sample of more than 1400 in 1998.
The South African Internet User Survey is a tri-annual (three times a year) project of South Africa Online. (http://www.southafrica.co.za). This is the third survey (previously the survey took place annually) and to date is the only one of its kind on the local Web. Executive summaries of the first and second surveys are available on this site.
Although there are many surveys available, dealing with many issues, the "world-wide" surveys are not localised enough. There are local (South African) surveys available but they do not deal with the same issues.
The aim of this survey is to better understand who accesses and uses the Internet locally with the idea that more knowledge will lead to more products, more effective use and more value for all who embrace it.
Findings are compiled into an extensive report prepared by THOS and a leading Web marketing company. The findings will be available from THOS in April. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the survey report, provide your details after completing the survey questionnaire and THOS will notify you when it is available.
There are several prizes for participation provided the entire questionnaire has been completed. Participation is encouraged to ensure a broad and valid sample.
