Cape Town, August 2009 - Kaplan IT Learning has announced that The University of Cape Town is using e-learning lessons created using STT Trainer to train staff on a multitude of systems.
Originally introduced for a PeopleSoft system implementation three years ago, STT Trainer is now used for many systems and within many different departments.
The University of Cape Town (UCT) first looked into e-learning when it realised the significant end-user training implications that would occur when replacing an established in-house bespoke system with a major ERP module. The end-users were dispersed across four different campuses and they recognised that an approach-based only on classroom training would be expensive and time-consuming for trainers and users.
“STT Trainer offered the best combination of cost, functionality, multi-system compatibility and track record,” said Richard van Huyssteen, Director of Student Systems and Support at the university. “The tool has enabled us to implement a secure, readily available and role-based end-user support structure.”
When a requirement occurred in the HR department for training users on SAP HR, STT Trainer was introduced to other areas of the business. STT Trainer is now also used for training on other administrative systems such as student accommodation and scheduling systems. The initial requirement was to train around 700 users and today nearly 1 000 staff members have access to the lessons.
