Telkom voice billing errors

In Telesa's experience, the service providers are focused on ensuring they adhere to strict ethical values and attempt to ensure flawless billing. Unfortunately, 'gremlins' do pop up every now and then. To ensure there is visibility of these gremlins within Telesa's Telecom Expense Management Platform, Telesa has invested in developing a billing module that is focused on re-rating all service providers' billing to ensure it can highlight any deviation in the service providers' billing.

Despite Telkom's constant accuracy in billing, we have highlighted the miss-rating of local calls in Telkom's client billing in bill periods for October 2016. (There is no evidence of this specific problem in prior periods.)

This is despite the destination number being a South African number; in some instances, calls which are flagged as local are bearing the description: "Spain Mobile Telefonica Movist", and being rated at approximately R5.50 per minute. The over-billing at an aggregate level is approximately 12 times the standard rate.

Not all calls are experiencing this deviation, as other calls to the same destinations are rated correctly.

Telesa would suggest that clients interrogate their invoices closely and, should they find this difficult to do, engage with Telesa for assistance.
