Telkom recharge vouchers available at Standard Bank AutoBanks

Telkom and Standard Bank SA have introduced a new PrepaidFone electronic voucher recharge service that enables customers to purchase Telkom Prepaid telephone recharge vouchers from the bank`s extensive AutoBank network.

Telkom`s PrepaidFone service is available to all Standard Bank`s ATM cardholders, including customers of other banks who wish to purchase vouchers from Standard Bank`s AutoBank ATMs.

"This service offers Telkom`s PrepaidFone customers easy and convenient access to recharge their vouchers. Our vast AutoBank network allows them to purchase vouchers at any time of the day or night throughout SA. Standard Bank is the only financial institution in SA to offer this service to Telkom customers, reinforcing our commitment to our simpler, better and faster approach," explained Herman Singh, Standard Bank`s Director of Direct Channels.

Singh pointed out that the introduction of Telkom Prepaid on Standard Bank AutoBanks showed the bank`s trend of being first to market with innovative ways of adding customer value rather than technology for technology`s sake.

Thami Magazi, Telkom`s Consumer Markets Managing Executive, said the benefits of the partnership between Telkom and Standard Bank included a one-stop-shop for telecommunications and banking services, 24-hour service availability, service excellence and customer satisfaction.

Magazi said Telkom was the first telecommunication provider in the world to launch the fixed-line PrepaidFone in 1998 to help low income earners manage their telephone bills better.

Higher income customers are now also using the Prepaid facility after seeing its benefits.

"The alliance with Standard Bank has ensured that Telkom and Standard Bank are able to provide their PrepaidFone customers with convenience and ease of access to recharge their vouchers 24/7/365," Magazi said.

"The launch of this initiative demonstrates the advanced technology capability of both Standard Bank and Telkom, who undertook this highly technological dependent project as equal partners," said Neil Harper, Standard Bank`s Technology Director of Direct Channels.

At the AutoBank terminal, the customer selects the amount of the voucher and the account to be debited. The AutoBank service will issue a transaction record slip on which the recharge number will be printed. The customer will not be required to enter the telephone number when recharging their PrepaidFone.

Customers purchasing PrepaidFone recharge vouchers should have sufficient funds available, and cash withdrawal limits cannot be exceeded.
