Tech glitch causes salary chaos

Public servants were left in shock after discovering that their salaries were either drastically deducted or reduced to zero, reports Solomon Times Online.

Reports state that the salary chaos may have been caused by newly introduced payroll software.

Finance payroll officers had reportedly made errors with their data input for the payroll software, which had caused some public servants to receive as much as only nine dollars in their accounts, while some had zero balances in last week's public servant's payday.

Derbyshire Probation Trust has signed a five-year contract with NorthgateArinso, says Onrec.com.

The HR supplier will deliver a Web-based HR and payroll service using its ResourceLink Aurora solution. The Probation Service is going through a period of fundamental transformation in the way it provides services, prompted by the need for efficiency savings across the public sector.

This transformation is particularly relevant to back office functions, which are increasingly partnering with external service providers in order to better focus on core goals.

Al Amthal Group for Consultancy and Software, a provider of integrated solutions, said Bahrain-based Unicorn Bank has selected its Optimum HR solution for the bank's HR operations, states Trade Arabia.

Al Amthal pointed out that it had a blend of business and technical expertise that enabled banks, trading, publishing, government and semi-government entities in GCC to manage their personnel admin, time attendance, HR and payroll using hi-tech Web- and windows-based Optimum solution.
