Local recruitment agency, Teba Limited, has purchased Hyperion Intelligence as the data query and analysis tool for its users to access and work with data retrieved from its newly created data warehouse.
Teba will use Hyperion Intelligence, with its intuitive user interface and support for all user types, to deliver business-critical information and drive an interactive understanding of business opportunities and trends.
"We are striving to create and enable a single view of the business," says Anneri Pieterse, corporate IT co-ordinator at Teba. "With Hyperion Intelligence, all top management will have access to the same data, at the same time, in the same view, whenever and wherever they need it. With accurate and reliable information at their fingertips, they will be able to make informed business decisions and improve planning, and so drive our growth and profitability."
Established in 1902 and employing 500 people, Teba provides a recruitment and employment service to the South African mining industry. The company provides miners with the facilities to communicate with family members back home; and as an agent of Teba Bank, it offers banking services at its offices, where miners can withdraw money from their savings books.
Supported by a Web-enabled dashboard interface, and leveraging data from Teba`s new data warehouse, Hyperion Intelligence will provide the company`s users with the ability to make raw data useful for decision-making.
"The application encourages fast user adoption and improves interactive understanding of business-critical information across Teba`s business," says Alwin Swales, operations director at local Hyperion distributor, Intellient. "It provides a dynamic intelligence solution for different classes of users, from simple to complex; it integrates with and leverages any existing information source to establish a scalable, standards-based environment; and it provides safe exchange of business information through the ability to secure content to different users across the business."
Hyperion Intelligence`s open metadata interpreter and optional semantic layer will provide Teba with the flexibility to design its deployment to include the company`s transactional systems.
It offers Teba business intelligence application development, query and online analytical processing (OLAP) functionality on a scalable and reliable architecture that includes load balancing and failover support across servers.
"The product also enables Teba`s administrators to create master data models and its analysts to build dynamic, customised information dashboards," Swales says. "Automatic database synchronisation enables the company to distribute repository changes to all users without IT support staff intervention, and the integration of query and analysis capabilities in Web and client/server environments caters for online and offline OLAP analysis. Role-based access controls establish user permissions, allowing Teba to control and delegate administration, while promoting collaboration."
Highbury Solutions, an Intellient partner, is responsible for the sale and implementation of the warehouse and business intelligence solution at Teba.
"We found Hyperion Intelligence to be the most suitable option for delivery of business information and analysis at Teba. The product is flexible and powerful, yet is easy to use," says Debbie Dixon, technical director at Highbury Solutions.
Hyperion Intelligence will run against a Sun server and IBM DB2 databases, and will be licensed for use by 30 executives, regional managers and regional co-ordinators.
