The greatest differentiator for a courier company that delivers tens of thousands of parcels daily is its IT systems.
So says Lance Soller, IT manager at RAM, SA's fastest growing courier organisation which currently has 28 branches around the country all connected to its IT network.
For the past four years RAM has partnered with SYNAQ, a national provider of managed Linux services and open source solutions, to ensure its IT systems perform at peak levels at all times.
SYNAQ constantly monitors RAM's network and more than 100 servers for indications of impending trouble and system overload.
“Our IT systems are absolutely critical to our operations. By constantly monitoring all our network links, for example, we are able to react quickly to any connectivity issues that may arise,” Soller says.
In addition, SYNAQ ensures the RAM helpdesk system - which it implemented and supports - also functions at peak efficiency.
“We've been most impressed with the solutions provided by SYNAQ in terms of their affordability and efficacy. However, it's their service ethic that really blows us away,” he adds.
“I've been involved in the IT industry since 1990 and SYNAQ is one of the few companies I've worked that actually delivers on its promises - not once or twice, but consistently.”
