Symantec has taken on security solutions provider Condyn as a strategic partner on the African continent. Condyn will foster a reseller relationship with Symantec and provide technical support and solutions for Symantec clients in Africa.
In a statement, Condyn CEO Jorina van Rensburg says the partnership will help enhance and grow Condyn's current solutions offering.
Symantec Africa regional director Patrick Evans says the partnership is important because there are few strong security resellers on the continent. “Security is not one of those areas, like ERP systems, where you can bring in an application. Security is something that changes every day. There are thousands of new threats.”
He says people recognised as experts in security are those who have been in the field for a long time. Condyn has been a security distributer in Africa for the past 12 years.
Perfect fit
Evans believes the security landscape has changed significantly in the past couple of years and this has precipitated the need for strong security solutions and policies within organisations.
He says Symantec will leverage Condyn's expertise in enterprise security, especially in the fields of intrusion protection, firewalls, incident management and log-file management. In turn, Condyn will benefit from Symantec's technologies, which will complement its own solutions offering.
“We are confident Condyn and Symantec make a good fit. Together we can provide a very strong solutions offering to the market,” says Van Rensburg.
