Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) has announced that SuSE AG (SuSE), Europe`s premier Linux distributor, is shipping CA`s Unicenter TNG Framework with the release of its new operating system, SuSE Linux 7.0.
For the first time, SuSE is releasing a personal and a professional version of its operating system. The professional version, developed for enterprise customers, will include CA ` s Unicenter TNG Framework on DVD and is available at no extra charge. SuSE will also promote CA`s Unicenter TNG as the management solution of choice for its wide ranging and rapidly growing Linux customer base of over 50,000 clients worldwide.
CA ` s Unicenter TNG technology seamlessly integrates SuSE ` s clients ` heterogeneous environments, legacy software and management tools. With CA`s Unicenter TNG Framework, clients can now integrate SuSE-based servers without any additional changes being made to the existing enterprise management system.
"Availability of market-leading software components, such as Unicenter TNG Framework, is key to the customer decision factor, " says Dirk Hohndel, CTO, SuSE Linux AG. " SuSE-based server systems often perform as departmental servers for Internet or mission critical applications. CA`s solution will enhance the flexibility of Linux 7.0."
Unicenter TNG Framework is the only framework to provide "out-of-the-box" support for a broad range of hardware platforms and sophisticated framework technologies, such as object repository, auto discovery and 2D and 3D GUI. The software is the underlying foundation for Unicenter TNG, the only fully integrated management solution covering networks, performance, events and status, security, software distribution, inventory storage, workload, help desk, change management and other functions for the heterogeneous enterprise.
SuSE is also planning to include CA`s ARCserve (storage management, backup and recovery), NetworkIT, (network management), MasterIT (Web site and Web server management), and InoculateIT (virus detection and real-time cure) with upcoming versions of its operating system.
