In today's business environment, every company is a digital company. IT infrastructure needs to not only keep pace, but also move fast enough to accommodate business transformation initiatives related to the Internet of things or machine learning, to name a few.

SUSE Expert Days is coming to Cape Town and Johannesburg next month. If you are interested in everything from IT transformation and improving business agility, to how you can win the top spot by leveraging the latest innovation, then this free-to-attend event is for you.

ITWeb chatted to SUSE's regional manager: Sub-Saharan Africa, Matthew Lee about why SUSE Expert Days is a must-attend for those members of the IT team who are interested in topics ranging from SDI and Application Delivery Solutions to IT transformation to improving business agility and to how you can win the top spot by leveraging the latest innovation.

ITWeb: I have noticed that the SUSE Expert Days takes place in 80 cities across the globe. Why is it so important that people hear your message?

Lee: We want to give everyone interested in SUSE the chance to meet SUSE experts and learn about its technology. During the Expert Days we bring them up to date on the whole SUSE portfolio and show them how we can help them in achieving their business goals.

ITWeb: What is the key message that attendees will hear about at this event?

Lee: In today's business environment, every company is a digital company. And in order to "stay in the game", they need an IT infrastructure that not only keeps pace, but also moves fast enough to accommodate strategic business and technology initiatives such as the digital economy and the Internet of things.

SUSE's open, open source approach helps our customers and partners transform IT infrastructure, create a more agile business, and inspire innovation.

Attendees will learn how they can use SUSE software-defined infrastructure and application delivery solutions to reduce costs and complexity, anticipate and quickly leverage the latest technology, and move the business forward while reducing unnecessary risk.

ITWeb: You are covering three main themes: transformation, agility and innovation. What new concepts does SUSE Expert Days bring to the table?

Lee: 1. Transformation SUSE helps IT evolve today's workloads with the latest open source technologies, while leveraging and optimising infrastructure they already have. SUSE's open, open source approach offers a software-defined infrastructure solution built on Linux that enables customers to reduce costs, improve efficiency and deliver IT services on demand by transforming their IT infrastructure.

2. Agility SUSE storage and cloud solutions help customers quickly respond to changing business needs and lower costs by providing the tools they need to transform their infrastructure and improve business agility using the latest open source technologies.

3. Innovation SUSE helps IT innovate using the latest open source software-defined infrastructure and application delivery solutions that are hardened and tested to ensure they support enterprise needs. They enable customers to quickly build cloud-native applications, focus on the continuous integration and delivery of their applications, and leverage automation throughout the DevOps process, which improves IT agility, efficiency and speed to market.

ITWeb: Is there a specific message for South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town) vs other countries?

Lee: I would mention, in combination with what I have talked you through in the above, that the time to act is now, this is the year of the do: getting it done. Get SUSE involved and start the journey.

ITWeb: What do you expect attendees to gain by attending this event?

Lee: They will get more insight in the possibilities SUSE offers to build their digital infrastructure. And they will have a chance to network with SUSE experts and with their peers, partners and customers.
