Another major player in the South African cellular services market has contracted e-billing specialist Striata for the provision of secure document delivery services.
Independent cellular services provider Altech Autopage Cellular selected to partner with Striata for the sending of statements to customers that have requested the documentation by e-mail.
Veronica Haupt, Head of eBilling Sales at the Johannesburg office of Striata, said the solution proposed for Altech Autopage Cellular provides a significantly higher level of encryption than that generally available for PDF.
This provides a SARS-compliant solution - which means that for those customers who choose electronic billing, Altech Autopage Cellular can switch off the paper.
"Every Altech Autopage Cellular customer that chooses an electronic bill over paper has a positive impact on the environment, as for every 38 500 bills produced, two tons of trees are destroyed and 11 000 kilograms of greenhouse gases are emitted*. So the solution is a great way for Altech Autopage Cellular's customers to make a direct, personal contribution to our planet.
"The solution will be hosted by Striata. We will provide Altech Autopage Cellular with tracking services for detailed reporting on delivery and non-delivery of statements. There are also options to clean up e-mail addresses as well as a campaign to obtain correct e-mail addresses," said Haupt.
"We have been tasked with a concurrent project to promote the concept of e-billing to the remainder of Altech Autopage Cellular's extensive client base," added Haupt. "This will be conducted through different campaigns that create an easy path for customers to provide their e-mail addresses to Altech Autopage Cellular. This is a great opportunity for Altech Autopage Cellular to utilise our unique adoption strategies - key to any successful e-billing implementation."
A variety of these campaigns to promote e-billing will be considered and Haupt said the encrypted e-mail service is scheduled to go live this month (November 2007).
Altech Autopage Cellular is the largest independent service provider in South Africa, with a nationwide network of partners.
