Spescom supplies broadcast equipment to NBC

Spescom MeasureGraph has supplied an Avid Media Solution to the value of R4.9 million to the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). NBC is Namibia's public service broadcaster.

Spescom MeasureGraph is the broadcasting operation of multinational, JSE-listed, Spescom.

According to Spescom MeasureGraph general manager, Sean du Toit, the existing linear workflow system was replaced with the Avid solution, which utilises non-linear workflow equipment.

"The major benefit to the customer is faster production time. This equates with more up to the minute, accurate information. Factual content is improved and more time can be put into creative presentation. It also ensures information is not misinterpreted," says Du Toit.

"The newsroom computer system and network editing facility caters for all aspects of content and production, and enables journalists to receive and edit stories straight off the wire through the network."

Du Toit concludes that the Avid solution is unique in that it is the only product on the market to offer an integrated newsroom and network editing system.
