Symantec's latest State of Spam report shows how spammers are taking advantage of the economic slump by offering loans to those experiencing financial difficulties.
These loans will apparently aid homeowners with their mortgage obligations and keep them out of bad credit ratings, explains Symantec.
Users are cautioned to steer clear from these types of e-mails as spammers are merely trying to steal sensitive personal data.
The latest report further shows spammers taking advantage of the recent cyclone in Burma and earthquake in China. Spammers were also reported to be sending mails relating to the football final in Moscow and offering bogus tickets for sale.
