K"uhne + Nagel, one of the world's leading logistics companies, will implement a business process automation platform (BPAP) in co-operation with Software AG, in order to further optimise and harmonise its logistics processes.
This platform will increase process efficiency and provide management with a clearer view of operational processes. Various escalation levels enable fast counteractive measures in the event of error. The logistics group has been working in successful partnership with Software AG for many years. The BPA platform will be realised with Software AG's webMethods BPM Suite.
The platform automates processes for business operations, such as those that deliver services to customers. This will further enhance the quality of K"uhne + Nagel's services and efficiency.
Furthermore, through business activity monitoring, process data can be evaluated based on predefined KPIs (key performance indicators). Warnings are issued immediately if a process deviates from a defined standard. For example:
A planned customs authorisation doesn't occur at the expected time. So the responsible employee is informed in time and is able to intervene as necessary to correct the situation. In this way, process flows are optimised, risks are minimised, and customers can enjoy an overall higher quality of logistics services.
“We have been working with K"uhne + Nagel successfully for many years, providing them with business-critical applications. We can therefore seamlessly integrate our webMethods BPM Suite into their existing infrastructure,” explains Dr Peter K"urpick, Chief Product Officer at Software AG and executive board member. “The innovative combination of webMethods BPMS and the previously employed CentraSite SOA governance solution offer significant advantages with this solution. We are pleased to be able to support K"uhne + Nagel in this project.”
The project will begin next year with a pilot stage, and is expected to be complete with a worldwide rollout by 2014. All products in the webMethods BPM Suite will be implemented. The combination of the Suite and CentraSite creates a considerable added value and is particularly well suited for global implementation.
