Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is set to hit store shelves 15 March, a year after it was originally scheduled for release.

The March date falls within about week of the release of Sniper Elite V2: Silver Star Edition and God of War: Ascension.

Building on the success of the original Sniper Ghost Warrior, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is the only multi-platform, first-person, shooter game designed around the sniper experience, according to developers City Interactive.

"We are pleased by the success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior as it exemplifies our commitment to creating the premier sniper gaming experience. With close to three million copies of the game sold worldwide across all platforms, the franchise is the benchmark for sniper games and we hope to establish a new standard with its successor, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2," says Marshall Zwicker, City Interactive EVP of sales and marketing for North America.

According to the developers, Ghost Warrior utilises the capabilities of the CryENGINE3 to deliver striking graphic environments in diverse sniper challenges. The game features the same 'one shot; one kill' precision that made the original Ghost Warrior a success. Gamers can enjoy realistic ballistics that take into account the player's location, wind speed and direction, breathing rate and distance from the target and all environments featured in Ghost Warrior 2 are based on real-world locations.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is expected to be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
