SMEs must stay online

Reality Digital, provider of brand-focused social media solutions, says small and medium enterprises (SME) should take advantage of online community services from social media agencies, reports RushPRnews.

In the current economic climate, many companies are undergoing in-depth reviews of their marketing strategies, resulting in a cut in funding for marketing activities, but Reality Digital has indicated that this need not be the case.

The company suggest the key to maintaining an online presence while avoiding the costs of implementing and maintaining a social networking application is to outsource.

German govt to assist SMEs

The government of Germany has selected Chandigarh and Mohali for the implementation of the economic development project, through e-governance, states The Indian Express.

The pilot project, jointly promoted by the German Technical Corporation (GTC) and the directorate of standardisation, testing and quality certification of the union ministry of communication and information technology, has already been successfully implemented in Rajkot and Bangalore.

Technical advisor to GTC, Ritobaan Roy, introduced the e-governance project and its objectives before signing the memorandum of understanding with Mohali Industries Association president BS Anand in Mohali last week.

Singapore SMEs lack continuity plans

There is a general lack of awareness among SMEs in Singapore of business continuity management (BCM) strategy and measures, reports Network World.

The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) together with the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises held a seminar as part of the SBF's efforts to drive BCM awareness among Singapore companies.

A survey conducted by the SBF on Singapore companies' understanding of BCM found that while 85% of 328 respondents indicate that they were aware of BCM, only half had a business continuity plan in place.
