Nationwide transport and warehousing specialist Shipping and General Services has contracted SAP Business One solutions provider 4most to supply, implement, commission and support an accounting and ERP software solution at its operational headquarters in Johannesburg.
A neutral transport and warehousing services supplier to major clearing and forwarding agents, Shipping and General Services has requested that the SAP Business One software solution includes “track and trace” Internet functionality so that customers will be able to track the progress of their goods in transit and storage.
“Full ERP functionality and customer relationship management (CRM) is very important in this application,” says Alex Viviers, sales director at 4most, a Logic Group company. “Besides the CRM and the track and trace facility for customers, the SAP Business One solution will run financials, stock, sales, purchasing, MRP, workflow, alerts and an HR module.”
Among the benefits that will accrue to Shipping and General Services is the availability of real-time information from the moment a customer call comes through to telesales. The SAP system will capture the lead in CRM and when the sale is confirmed, the software provides the order for the goods, details of the pick-up and initiates the logistics of its transportation. The solution will operate on a local area network and is expected to go live at the end of August 2011.
