Mohamed Yusuf Kajee has resigned as a non-executive director on Sekunjalo Investments' board. The company has not disclosed reasons for his departure. His resignation was effective from last Friday.

Kajee, a co-founder of Sekunjalo, previously held the posts of CEO, CFO and COO. A chartered accountant, he left the company in 2005 to “pursue other interests”. Kajee returned as COO in 2006, after a stint as managing director of Irvin Johnson.

In 2007, he was promoted to the post of group CFO and, later that year, moved into the position of CEO, a post that was scrapped earlier this year after a restructuring exercise.

Sekunjalo said in April that Kajee would leave the group to pursue his “personal interests”, but would continue with the company in an advisory capacity and remain on its board as a non-executive director.

The company has stakes in several industries, including IT. The black-owned firm has said for some time that it wants to spin off the division as a separate entity.
