Scanning films made easy with Rectron`s Vuego

Rectron has announced an affordable scanner that not only scans photos, pictures and text but also handles transparencies such as positive films, negative films and slides.

The Vuego Scan Brisa 620PT has a built-in transparency unit with useful film frames, 600dpi x 1200dpi optical resolution, 19200dpi x 19200dpi maximum resolution and 36-bit colour for over 68.7 billion colours representation.

"The MiraScan driver has MMX support and the colour matching features speeds up scanning and boosts performance," says Rui Perreira, product manager at Rectron.

The Colour Wizard smart functions include an automatic setting to optimise scanning for more vivid image quality and a "PhotoMagic" setting for 12 kinds of graphic options.

"The colour matching technology enables accurate scanner-to-screen and screen-to-printer colour matching, getting the accurate colours every time," he says.

To help the accurate placement of the transparencies, the scanner is provided with assistant frames and holders for scanning positive and negative films ranging from 35mm to 5 inch x 7 inch.

"The Vuego makes it easy to create exciting and impressive Web pages, personalised greeting cards or add an extra-touch to presentations," says Perreira.

The bundled software includes Ulead Photo Express, imaging editing software with the balance of professional quality templates and easy-to-use editing tools. It also includes Copier, a program to let the scanner be used as a high quality copier, and Xerox TextBridge, an instant-access Optical Character Recognition (OCR) package. It also has an electronic manual in HTML format.

The Vuego Scan Brisa range features Parallel Port, SCSI II or USB connectivity options and sells for R1199 (recommended retail price incl VAT).
